We are finally alive ..

November 22, 2008 - 04:30 — mhafidz

Hi, finally .. after one year of planning, discussion and some soul searching and another year of waiting for some of the debtorsCheap office renovation to pay the money that they owe us and  another 3 months worth of site development and contents, moochiku is live.

Now may not be the best of times to go online as well, the economic situation throughout the world crumbled. Huge losses in the United States, Japan and Europe did not help either. Malaysia is also affected pretty badly and as with all the other people here .. im pretty worried as well.

Ringgit Malaysia depreciated badly ever since the last economic slowdown of 97 and we are now at 3.6 - 3.7 to the US dollars compared to 3.1-3.2 back in june 2008 yes .. its just a few months ago.

Anyways, just like in 97, we at moochiku view this economic slowdown as an opportunity to rise and wise up and hopefully we will be able to be part of something better for us, our partners and especially to those who have been giving us their full support throughout our challenging life.

Moochiku currently sells its stuff at etsy.com and we hope to be able to have a full online store before June 2009 and the target is to have a few value added partners with unique offerings and a catalog of up to 2000 unique items and more if possible. One thing for sure, we will try our best to set us apart from the other online stores from our geographic location. Often, crafts and heritage products listed at some Malaysian online store only comes with a picture or two with a short to no description that describes the beauty and uniqueness of the crafts and heritage that we have. This can clearly be seen from even the government backed agencies online stores such as Karyaneka and Kraftangan Malaysia. We on the other hand will try our best to concentrate and give our buyers and readers to participate on the items we sell. This is not an easy thing to do, and yes we will try our best. As for the case of Karyaneka and Kraftangan Malaysia, we do understand that the problem in Malaysia is more that the country and the agencies involved lacks funds to do the right thing, and not to mention that money often were spent on unnecessary things for the sake of some irresponsible individuals.

Enough of that, a lot of work is ahead of us and 2009 will be the year to prove ourself to the world. Special thanks to my brother and sister and a huge hug to mona's parents whom without them moochiku won't be a reality. Let us pray together for the success of this venture.
